More Stories! Yay!

Okay - it's that time again. Time for more stories!

Two Birthday Parties!!

I was invited to two Birthday parties in the last little bit. The first one was Daddy's. I surprised daddy at 3:00 in the morning with my birthday gift to him - a wet diaper. I know it's not much - but I made it myself, and after all, it's the thought that counts. The next morning Mommy surprised Daddy with a card we made. Daddy loved it - it had a picture of my hand holding his thumb - it was very cool.

The 2nd birthday I was invited to was to my friend Liam's - he was celebrating his first birthday! Wow - he's so old! He could do all these really advanced things like eat non-milk food with his hands and move around on the floor quickly with his arms and legs. When his mommy tried to put a birthday cone on his head he didn't like it. I knew how he felt because when Mommy put that ugly bib on me it made me sad too.
Grabbing
I learned this new trick recently. I wait for something to get close to my hand, then I close my fingers around it. This lets me do all kinds of things, I can grab Mommy and Daddy's clothes. I can grab my bib - so I can suck on it. I can grab my toy that I like. There are so many uses for grabbing things that I get the feeling I will be using this technique a lot in the future.
When I'm hungry
When Mommy and Daddy don't feed me quick enough I like to try and suck on something. I usually pick my hand, recently I have tried my bib - but just yesterday I discovered something new - that was literally right in front of my face - my lower lip! I was amazed to find that I could suck on my lip and get the same enjoyment as my fist - but yet it was so much more convenient. No more trying to deal with fists that are way to big for my mouth - my lower lip is a perfect fit. It's always there, it's close by, and it makes a pleasant slurping sound.
Sleeping
I've started to get really good at sleeping. Last night I slept almost 13 hours! Mommy and Daddy were very impressed. My secret is a few hours before I go to bed I start eating as much as I can - that way my belly is so full of food that I can sleep for a long time without getting hungry - it's great! and Mommy and Daddy seem to like it too.

Nodding
I have also learned how to tilt my head forward. It doesn't seem to be too useful. In fact because my head is so heavy, when I tilt it forward it makes my whole body move forward. This means Mommy and Daddy have to be careful when they are holding me or I will roll forward.

I guess those are all my stories for now!

Four ouchies in the Leg and other Stories

Finally Dad has gotten me in front of the computer again so I can share my most recent stories. So lets start!

Ugly Bib

Today Mommy needed to wash some of my clothes, including my bibs. Well she saved the worst for last. It's not really a bib - it's more like a small blanket with two strings. It is very ugly and very uncomfortable. The picture above describes my feeling about it.

Weight

I was put on a weigh machine yesterday - now I weight 12 pounds 4 ounces! Wow - I'm getting very big. The doctor said my weight was off the averages chart for a 2 month old baby! Mommy and Daddy looked very proud - but I'm the one who does all the eating - so I should get most of the credit!

Four Ouchies in the Leg

Unfortunately there was bad news yesterday Mommy and Daddy took me to this tall building I've never been to before. We went inside and Mommy and Daddy met a woman in a little office. The woman talked for a while and asked Mommy to hold me tight and Daddy to hold my legs. I thought to myself - wow what a nice woman - she is making Mommy and Daddy cuddle with me - but I was wrong, very wrong. Next the lady poked me with two *huge* metal prickers right in the leg - it hurt soooo much! My face got so red and I was not happy. I looked up at Momma because I didn't know why this lady was hurting me. Mommy's eyes had started leaking and Daddy was trying to clean her face.

I was not happy but then Mommy comforted me and I started to feel better. Soon she was cuddling me again, and Daddy was grabbing my leg again. I was thinking to myself 'Whew, I so glad all the pain is done with and Mommy and Daddy are cuddling with me again.' Unfortunately I was very wrong again. The woman poked me again in my other leg when I was looking at Mommy. It hurt so much! again! I was very not happy - my face got red again. I was crying so hard I had to take a break to catch my breath and then cry some more. Mommy eye's were still leaking.

By now I was in a very bad mood. My legs were sore and I was tired out from crying so hard. Mommy tried to comfort me but I was too upset. That lady had no right to poke me four times. Soon Mommy put me in my new baby holder and I was so tired out from all that screaming that I just fell asleep as soon as Mommy put me in it.

More eye leaks from Mommy.

While we were out yesterday Mommy was told that she couldn't visit her family. Someone has a bad thing in their body that could make me sick. Mommy was very sad she couldn't see her family, she misses them sooo much. She told daddy that she really wanted to see her family but didn't know how we could. Her eyes were leaking like when the woman poked me. Mommy looked very sad.

My new baby holder!

But that is enough sad news - now onto more happy news. Mommy and Daddy got me a baby holder. It *so* comfortable - I love it. I find it so relaxing. Below is a picture of me and mommy with it. Doesn't Mommy look good! We've already gone out a few times in it. It's so nice to feel close to Mommy.

The Chocolate Man and the Hand Talking

Mommy and Daddy took me to Metrotown recently because they wanted to take back my swing - which I didn't really like too much. After a while Mommy and Daddy got hungry so they sat down and eat. Mommy and Daddy usually hand talks, but Daddy sometimes mouth talks to the computer, but always hand talks with Mommy.

While Daddy was handing talking with Mommy a man sitting not far away - who looked like he was made of chocolate start hand talking too. He said he was from a place call feegee. He was friendly and asked Mommy all about me. Mommy then sat down with a group of other hand talkers who came later. Mommy seemed to enjoy being around other hand talkers.

Okay - I guess that's all the stories I'll write for now

Smiling and Frowning

Wow - it's been such a long time since Daddy gave me the chance to tell you all about my life this last while. Well all the convincing has paid off! Here are some of my stories!

Smiles

About a week about I found about this amazing trick for making Mommy and Daddy happy. I make the corners of my mouth move up and I squint my eyes. Soon after I do this Mommy and Daddy to the same, and they tell me how cute I am! What an amazing effect this smile thingy can do. At the moment I think it is Mommy and Daddy's favorite thing to look at.

I only like to show off my smile when I'm not hungry or tired, otherwise no smile for Momma and Daddy.

Frowns

Unfortunately Daddy and me have been making frowny faces recently because of some not very friendly people. When Daddy takes me on the bus, sometimes people won't move and make room for me and my stroller. When Daddy asks people to move sometimes they say things that Daddy isn't happy to hear. Sometimes the man who sits at the front comes back and tells people to move, but by then Daddy is already frowning.

We went downtown on Wednesday and Daddy had to take me to the train in the sky, but to get to it we needed to go down. We couldn't find an elevator, so daddy put me on a moving metal staircase and held my stroller so it wouldn't tip. Daddy heard other people saying they weren't happy because they couldn't get around him and me. A woman even pushed by us when we were almost on the bottom. Daddy looked not very happy, and said something about people not having any patience.

Daddy doesn't seem very happy taking me out in the stroller anymore. He says that all the rude people are making trips not much fun. Mommy and Daddy are thinking of getting me a new baby holder - that way I can ride on Mommy or Daddy's chest when we go out.

Sore Baby Bag

Mommy and Daddy took me over to see Hi-D a few days ago. They had to take a baby bus - so they couldn't take my stroller. Daddy tried on a wearable baby bag that I sat in. Soon both me and daddy were not happy. My legs were all crumpled up and it make me cry. I didn't like it very much and Daddy didn't look much happier. I hope if Mommy and Daddy get a new one it is much less ouchy.

Diaper Tower

Daddy and me got out a calculator and figured out that I've used over 400 diapers since I was born! Wow that's a lot. I can't take all the credit Mommy and Daddy helped to change me when I need a new one - after that I do all the hard work. Daddy said if we stacked all the diapers it would be over 17 feet tall - that's pretty neat.

Sleeping More

I have noticed recently that when it gets dark mommy and daddy like to go to sleep. For a long time I didn't mind if it was bright or dark - I would sleep when I felt like it. But I'm starting to like this dark idea. Now I will sleep for usually 5 hours. Then I'll wake up very hungry - Mommy will feed me and then I'll go back to sleep and maybe wake up in another 3 hours. By then Mommy and Daddy seem very rested and happy to have me awake so they can play with me.

Big Mall small Eating Area

Mommy and Daddy took me to Metrotown Mall a few weeks ago. We were all looking around and then I started to get hungry. So Mommy and Daddy tried to find where the baby feeding area was. They found it but it was sooooo small. Daddy did not look impressed. We went in and then two other mommies came in with their babies. It was so crowded nobody could move.

Mommy's favorite mall is Brentwood because the feeding area is so nice. Me and Mommy are so relaxed there. The room has three comfortable chairs and toys to play with, as well as another bathroom where mommy could change me if she wanted to - it was great.

Well Daddy is complaining his wrists are getting sore from holding me. So I guess I better end my story time. I will really have to remind Daddy to help me update this more often.

Love you!!!!!!

Thursday

It has been a very long time since I updated my blog. Daddy has been so busy that he can't hold me in front of the laptop to let me write - but he finally got the chance so let me tell you about all the busy things I've been doing. I'll start with Thursday last week.
Thursday was a very busy day for us. We all had to get up early and go to see a doctor about the way I was feeding from Mommy. Mommy had been making funny faces when it was feeding time and she wanted to know why.

We arrived at the doctor's office after a long trip. They took off my clothes and put me on a cold tray - that seems to happen a lot when we go out. Soon we got to see a doctor. The doctor watched as I was feeding but then something bad happened - the doctor kept pushing my head into mommy's chest. I got very upset. My face got very red and I was crying very hard - Mommy and Daddy tried to comfort me but it took me a while to calm down. I didn't like that doctor very much.

To make matters worse after I would feed for 5 minutes - that same old mean doctor would take me and put my on the tray again. She did this twice - didn't she know I was trying to eat!

Then the doctor let daddy hold me and gave me my sucking toy - it's not as good as eating but better than nothing. The doctor made Mommy use strange looking robot babies that attached to her chest, she turned on some switch and they started to steal MY milk. Then the horrible doctor told mommy that she might have to get her own robot babies to help make more milk. She doesn't need any more babies! She already has me!

Soon we were able to leave and I was happy to not be around that scary doctor any more. On the way out, the phone lady asked if mom wanted to rent one of those things - Mommy and Daddy said no because we had to catch a ferry.

We then had another long trip to this ferry. I don't know how Mommy and Daddy expected to catch it - it was huge! But we got on it anyways. The ride over was fun - Daddy took me to the mens room and changed me, Mommy fed me, people said I was cute - the usual.

As we were getting off the ferry Mommy and Daddy remembered they wanted to take pictures of me, because it was my first ferry trip. They quickly put me down and took a picture before leaving.

Well I guess I should take a break. Daddy is getting tired of holding me in front of the laptop. I'm going to try and get him to help me post more often - I have lots of stories I want to tell.
Love you!!!!

The Trick Master

I have to admit that I love playing tricks on Mommy and Daddy (mostly Daddy.) One of my favorite tricks I use when Dad is feeding me with a bottle.

What I do is that when I want to slow Daddy down, I arc my back and the try and push myself to my left or right. This means Daddy has to put down the bottle to make sure I don't slip. While the bottle is out of my mouth I can:

1. Close my mouth super tight -
2. Put my hand in my mouth
3. Spit up what I just drank

I usually go for #1. It's easy to remember. #2 is for days I'm don't want to eat formula. By putting my hand in my mouth I'm telling dad 'Even my fist tastes better than that' #3 is definitely most messy, but I only do it if I'm not really hungry.

I have one final technique - the head shake. When dad tries to put the bottle back in my mouth - I shake my head from side to side - a moving target is harder to get.

And those are my food related tricks. I will tell you about another trick I pulled on Daddy a few days ago. I woke him up because I was hungry. He came over to my sleep box and tried to pick me up. He noticed I wasn't going up all the way - I was stuck on something. He tried it again and I still didn't go up. He might have been thinking that my clothes were stuck on the mattress or bars - but then he realized my trick - I was grabbing the bar with my hand! My huge powerful hands, are naturally good at grabbing stuff.

Okay that's all I want to say about my tricks (a guy has to keep some secrets.)

In other news, Mommy, Daddy and Me have been doing well. We went to Brentwood Mall not that long ago to meet Hi-D. I think she's called that because she is always saying Hi (to me anyways.) Mommy and Daddy then took me around looking at stuff. Mommy was impressed with the mall because they had a separate room just for Mommies that want to feed their babies - we even talked to another Mommy who had a six week old baby. He had so much hair on his head - way more than me - but I'm wasn't jealous - I think he may have been taking performance enhancing formula.

Mommy went to the market and bought tons of healthy vegetables! Something her and Daddy have been wanting to get more of.

Well my little hands are all tuckered out!

Love you!!!!

The Real Birth Story

Everyone is always asking Mommy or Daddy about what happened the day I was born. I listen patiently as they tell only part of the story. I think it's my turn to say what really happened. I'll start my story with my earliest memories - about three months ago....

Those were the good times. I remember swimming around in the womb pool all day. It was so big. I would swim for a while, then take a nap by the placenta, if I wanted some exercise I'd kick Mommy's kidney a few times - it was relaxing and so luxurious. Then something bad happened, I don't know if Mommy forgot to pay the rent, but my womb pool started to get smaller. At first it was okay - I still had lots of room to move - but slowly and steadily I started to feel cramped. Not only that, but my head got stuck at the bottom of Mommy's pelvis. Now I couldn't swim anymore, and I was cramped. I would still kick Mommy's kidney's, but that was only fun for a short time.

Then May 21st came, or Eviction Day as I like to call it. I could hear someone talking to Mommy from outside - they were saying that they weren't happy with Mommy's test results - if only she had studied harder. They said they would do something called 'inducing' - which I think means to kick a person out of their home.

About 20 minutes later I could hear something really close. I looked up and someone was poking my pool wall! With what looked like a yellow knitting needle! Suddenly the water started draining out. Now I was cramped, stuck, and cold! How thoughtless!

I figured I'd make the best of this - so I tried to go back to sleep. But about 30 minutes later I started to feel this strange feeling like something was trying to spit me out. It was pretty light, at first, but it started to get stronger. An hour later the feeling was no longer pleasant at all. It felt like being in a nearly empty tube of toothpaste and someone was trying to get the last bit out.

I could feel myself start to move down this cramped little tunnel. And then suddenly - bang! My head hit something really hard! Ouch! I kept getting pushed. I heard a woman nearby say 'Okay slow down for a second.' I guess Mommy wasn't in the mood for that because I kept on going forward. Soon I heard someone else say 'Oh I see blond hair.' I'm guessing they were talking about me - although Mommy also has beautiful blond hair.

And then before I knew it - bright lights were everywhere. I saw these giant people standing over me. The one that was particularly shaggy, I later learned was Daddy. But I was not in a mood to chat. I had a big nasty bruise on the back of my head - and I was cold and wet and covered in a white goop. Not only that but the Doctor gave Daddy a pair of scissors to cut my food tube! I was using that! Then the lady in pink put a clamp over the end of it just to make sure I couldn't retie them together later.

So here I am cold, wet, and shaking. Daddy has just cut off the only food supply I have ever known - and Mommy just kicked me out of my home - I was not in a good mood. The lady in pink put some stuff in my eyes. She then measured me and put me on a cold, plastic tray. I saw bright flashes of light coming from a metal box Daddy was holding in front of his face.

So was it a magical experience? When they put me on Mommy's chest everything seemed to get better. Mommy was so warm - it almost seemed like she had been exercising, or doing something tiring. Daddy was looking at me too, and Gramma Leverton. It seemed like I was the center of attention.

And that is the real story of what happened on May 21st.

Love you!!!

Mommy and Daddy's Funny Sleep Activities

The above picture is what I can see from my sleep box. That brown thingy is Mommy and Daddy's bed.

Mommy and Daddy sure do some funny stuff when they're half asleep. Some nights Mommy will wake up in a bit of a panic and ask Daddy where I am - Daddy will point at me. Sometimes Mommy goes back to sleep, other times she turns on the light just to make sure Daddy is telling the truth.

Daddy is also funny. A few days after we got home from the hospital, Daddy woke up and thought I was a bunch of sheets that rolled up next to him. The room is very dark so he couldn't see clearly. He tried to pick up the sheets thinking that it was me - but after he woke up mom -who wondered what he was doing - then he realized I was in my sleep box.

Two nights ago Daddy thought I was a pillow next to him. He frantically tried to find my face to make sure I was okay, soon his sleepiness wore off and he realized the pillow wasn't me. Mommy found that situation very funny.

The weather is very warm down here at the moment - Dad is leaking water out of his forehead all day. But mommy and me are just glowing.

Here is a picture Mommy took of me - sleeping in my comfortable bed that my Great Grampa Copp and Gramma Leverton made for me.

Love you!!

Hello

My name is Connor and this is my blog. I was born almost two weeks ago on May 21st at 1:55PM. I was born two weeks early.

I have been doing well since then - but sometimes I get fussy and want food. My weight is going up steadily - I was just weighed yesterday and I made it to 6 pounds 11 ounces - I'm already heavier than my birth weight - hooray!

Mom and Dad have been very busy taking care of me. Mommy is always feeding me and giving me attention. Daddy helped make me a change table - which I've used many times. Daddy likes to change me. He also likes to show off his clothes collection to me because he always seems to put on new clothes after changing me.

I've been very busy since I was born. Mom and Dad have already taken me to Ikea, Save on Foods, Tim Hortons and Canadian Tire. Everywhere I go people always ask Mommy or Daddy how old I am and tell me that I'm cute. Mommy and Daddy just nod and smile.

I've been very warm recently because the weather is getting hotter. Daddy always look hot, but Mommy seems only warm. Mommy gave me some water yesterday which was my first time trying it. It tasted plain - but Mommy is always drinking it, so it must be good.

I should end off - my little fingers are getting tired from so much typing.

Love you!

Connor
